The question “Who do you most admire?” is a great opportunity to share your challenges, how you overcome them and who in your life (or outside your life) inspired you.

For many of us, a parent is that person. Totally fine! Whoever you choose, make sure you back up the why with details and specifics versus generic terms like “supportive” and “strong” and leaving it at that.

Nia Franklin Saves Father’s Life

Nia Franklin’s father was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma T-cell cancer during her freshman year in college. He was treated with chemotherapy and radiation, but relapsed twice.

“His kidneys were failing. He had no appetite. He even had trouble kind of breathing,” she told reporters.

His doctors suggested he try a stem cell transplant and Franklin was a perfect match. She donated her stem cells and her father went into remission.

US and Canada Reach NAFTA Replacement Deal

The United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) will give the US more access to Canada’s dairy market and permits more Canadian cars to be imported. President Donald Trump said the new deal was “wonderful.”

The deal will last for 16 years and will be renewed every six years. Additionally, 40 percent of car parts of vehicles produced must be made in North America and the wages must be $16 per hour. Canada also secured protection in the wood industry from US anti-dumping tariffs through the preservation of a dispute-settlement mechanism.

Global Image of US at Record Low

The image of the US on a global scale has reached historic lows since Donald Trump was voted President, according to a Pew Research survey of 25 countries. Only Israelis, Russians and Kenyans have shown an increase in positive attitudes. Those who participated in the poll had less faith in Trump’s ability to lead than they did in Vladimir Putin’s and Xi Jinping’s.

Both of America’s bordering countries saw a decrease in favorable opinion. In Canada, 39 percent of respondents had a positive view of the US. At the end of Obama’s presidency, 65 percent of Canadians had a positive view. Only 32 percent of Mexicans view the US positively, down from 66 percent.
